Simon Rake

Simon Rake - Standing to represent Dartmouth and Marldon

"I am Simon Rake and I am standing to be your County Councillor in the elections on 1 May 2025.

I have been a District Councillor on South Hams District Council since May 2023 and have really enjoyed the challenge of representing local people on the Council and making sure that their views are heard and their problems dealt with.

I am convinced that local government, whether at District or County level, is no place for the petty squabbles of party politics and I am committed to working constructively with fellow Councillors no matter what colour rosette they wear at election time.

I truly believe that an influx of new Councillors can breathe new life into a Council, and this is what I would like to see for Devon: new energy and new ideas to address years of failure in vital areas like our children’s services and our roads"

Simon could be your next County Councillor if you live in Ashprington, Cornworthy, Dartmouth, Dittisham, Kingswear, Littlehempston, Marldon or Stoke Gabriel.

Simon's Priorities for Devon County Council and the Dartmouth & Marldon division:

  • Rationalising and streamlining road repairs to take account of particular problems identified by you, the local residents.
  • Fixing our broken children’s services and continuing to work to support children in care and care leavers.
  • Ensuring that the Council is well run, to make the most of limited resources, and works more closely with local communities.
  • Investing second home council tax in housing, especially for key workers. It’s the investment for the future that Devon needs.
