Fix NHS Dentistry in South Devon

In South Devon, NHS Dentistry has become virtually non-existent. It’s now almost impossible to get an appointment locally when you need one.

Shockingly, there isn’t a single dental surgery in South Devon accepting new NHS patients. Many residents are left with a painful choice: either pull out their own teeth or pay thousands for private care.

This crisis is unacceptable. Everyone deserves access to basic dental care, no matter where they live.

The Government must act urgently to fix this crisis. I am calling for:

  • An increase to the number of dentist training places in the UK
  • Recognition of EU trained dentists’ qualifications
  • Rural areas in the South West receiving the same provision of NHS dentistry as those in urban areas
  • Urgent implementation of the government’s manifesto commitment of 700,000 more dental appointments
