Wera Hobhouse MP inspired local members on a visit to South Devon at the weekend with her passion for Lib Dem campaigning, the importance of local government and her opposition to Brexit.

As part of a tour of Devon and Cornwall, Wera stopped off in South Brent to share a cream tea with members who had come from across the South Hams.

Wera was a councillor in Liverpool for ten years and her enthusiasm for the importance of local government and local democracy shone through in her rallying speech. Now the Lib Dem spokesperson for communities and local government, Wera talked enthusiastically of making sure the Liberal Democrats becomes the party that promotes a new wave of social housing construction in the UK.

Wera also spoke of her campaigning work in Bath in the run-up to the 2016 EU referendum and starting again the day after the vote. A true European - Wera is German by birth and also speaks fluent French - she is passionate about the benefits of the UK remaining in the European Union.
