Tory MPs vote down emergency budget plan despite Britain's cost of living crisis

Last night, on the same day we found out families face the biggest cost of living crunch in 40 years, Conservative MPs voted against an emergency tax cut which would save families £600 a year.

Cutting VAT would put money straight back into people's pockets, and the Chancellor could do it at the stroke of a pen.

Rishi Sunak's refusal to do so while cashing in billions in extra VAT receipts is a betrayal to those feeling the pain of soaring prices.

MP's for Southwest Devon and Totnes which covers the South Hams, Plympton and Plymstock did not support our amendment to cut VAT. These conservatives are not on your side.
