At 4pm today, the nominations for district councillors in the May elections closed.

We can now confirm that the Liberal Democrats are fielding 22 candidates in the district council elections on May 2nd. We have candidates standing in the following wards; Allington & Strete, Blackawton & Stoke Fleming, Charterlands, Dartmouth & East Dart, Ermington & Ugborough, Ivybridge East, Ivybridge West, Kingsbridge (2 candidates) Loddiswell & Aveton Gifford, Marldon & Littlehempston, Newton & Yealmpton (2 candidates) Salcombe & Thurlestone, South Brent (2 candidates), Stokenham, Totnes (3 candidates), Wembury & Brixton and West Dart.

Lib Dems Winning Here!

We have some incredibly strong candidates, 3 of which are already district councillors and 1 is a county councillor. Many are current or previous district, parish or town councillors with a wealth of experience in local government.

Bearing in mind that we need 16 councillors in order to take control of South Hams District Council, and the current political backdrop - we stand every chance. Labour has no representatives on SHDC. The Lib Dems are the only alternative to the current Tory led council. The feedback from our door to door campaigning is that voters have tired of the Tories, both nationally and locally.

This is the chance of a lifetime for the Lib Dems! Let's all Demand Better and get these candidates elected!
