More money to combat climate change?
Money to fight the climate emergency in the South Hams could be almost doubled if the District Council agrees to a recommendation from opposition councillors to add another £324,000 to the Climate Change and Ecological Emergency budget.
Yesterday's Overview and Scrutiny Committee at South Hams District Council voted to recommend the additional spending.
If the extra £324,000 is agreed, first by the Executive Committee, (28th Jan, 10am) and then by Full Council, (11th Feb, 2pm) this would nearly double the budget to fight the climate emergency to £724,000.
Lib Dem Councillor John Birch recommended an additional £200,000 to the council's existing £400,000 budget, and Green Councillor Jacqi Hodgson proposed a further £124,000.
We will keep you updated as the decision progresses.
