Mike Treleaven off to Harrogate for the Lib Dem Conference

3 Mar 2005

Totnes Prospective Parliamentary Candidate, Mike Treleaven will be travelling to Harrogate this weekend for the Lib Dem Spring Conference, probably the last conference before the next General Election. Delegates will be debating issues of great relevance to Totnes, particularly relating to affordable and sustainable housing, council tax, post office closures, improving life for the elderly and reducing crime. Speaking before he left for Harrogate Mike Treleaven said:

'I hope to contribute to many of the debates in Harrogate and highlight many of the problems facing people in South Devon. People often think of the West Country as a land of milk and honey but the reality is somewhat different with low wages, lack of affordable housing, decay of our rural communities and a whole host of problems that affect the everyday lives of our residents '

He continued:

'The Liberal Democrats have a whole range of policies that will help people in this constituency. Policies that will scrap the dreaded Council Tax, improve our health, education and police services, protect our environment and make life better for our senior citizens - I look forward to campaigning on these issues during the election, whenever it comes!'
