Mike Treleaven congratulates Lib Dem Torbay Council on Audit Commission praise

16 Dec 2004

Mike Treleaven today added his congratulations to the many that Torbay Council will receive following the good news that they have been rated as 'Fair' in an Audit Commission report.

' Having taken over a Conservative controlled Council with mounting problems and the bottom, 'Poor', rating the Liberal Democrats have turned things round in a remarkably short space of time. In just 18 months great changes have taken place and the Audit Commission has recognised the many strengths in the Council' said Mike Treleaven.

'The Council can now concentrate on continuing to improve services for the people of Torbay rather than wasting over £2.3 million on government inspection procedures. The Government has given their verdict - Torbay is one of the fastest improving Council in the country and I congratulate them. There is much still to be done and I look forward to Liberal Democrat Torbay becoming a 'Good' authority in the future'
