Meet Your Councillors:  Cllr Dan Thomas for the Newton and Yealmpton Ward

I was born at Freedom Fields in Plymouth and have lived largely in Yealmpton throughout my life. I spent 10 years working for Plymouth Argyle in Hospitality and Operations Management before becoming the club's General Manager until administration. I then retrained as a primary teacher and have taught in a variety of schools across the district as well as in Plymouth, latterly as a supply teacher, so as to balance work with council duties.

A lover of amateur dramatics and choral singing, I was actively involved with the Ermington Players for many years. I am currently Chair of Yealmpton Parish Council and believe passionately in the importance of local people being actively involved in local politics. I am married to Tina and we have three children.
