Lib Dems want to see inspiring development at Baltic Wharf

January 22, 2021

An imaginative development that includes housing, workshops, boatyards, river access and public space is what the Liberal Democrats want to see at Baltic Wharf, says local councillor John Birch.

As Acorn Property Group announces that it has plans for the remaining part of the riverside development, Councillor Birch is keen to ensure that Acorn sticks to the spirit of the planning permission that was granted after extensive community consultation.

"The last thing we want to see is the Baltic Wharf site being developed at the expense of employment opportunities and public facilities. The development plan should be adhered to," said Councillor Birch.

Forming part of the local development plan, the agreed development is set to be an inspiring, pedestrian-friendly area with extensive public river access. On completion, the public would be able to enjoy a wetland, a central public plaza and open recreation space/children's playground. The long-awaited development should also include a nursing home and assisted living units.

Acorn have not yet released any plans.
