Oak SaplingLib Dem Teignbridge District Council have boosted their work on climate change and environment by planting trees and greening refuse lorries.

At least 4,500 trees will be planted by Lib Dem run Teignbridge Council to help the environment and count towards trees lost to Ash die-back. The council has also cut back on the use of chemical weed-killer which is now used mainly for noxious weeds.

A new electric-powered refuse lorry is to be trialled by Teignbridge this month, as the council looks ahead to replace the fleet of ageing lorries used to collect the rubbish and recycling.

Alan Connett, Liberal Democrat Leader of Teignbridge District Council said:

"I'm delighted that Lib Dem Teignbridge Council is championing climate change and environment. Working with local communities to plant trees is such an easy and enjoyable way to cut our emissions and capture carbon, at the same time as making our area even more green and pleasant. It really is win, win."
